Ruby, a 9-year-old Rat Terrier mix rescued from a Florida humane society at six weeks old, is the matriarch — sweet and content simply to be loved.

Starla, a 7-year-old chiweenie rescued from a backyard breeder, has perfected the art of selective affection. “Ever heard of a diva dog?” Amanda jokes. “That would definitely be her.”

Annie, a 6-year-old goldendoodle, offers devoted snuggles — and occasional zoomies.

And Todd, a 5-year-old toy Australian Shepherd rescued from a difficult home situation, rounds out the lively household.
